Les Jardins du Roi Soleil was created by 3 men in 1992.

Jean d'Amonville, a specialist in gardens and historical sites such as the Château de Versailles.
François Vernhol, director of a decorative ironwork company working at the Château de Versailles.
Jean-François Jiquel, a specialist in ironwork and wrought iron craftsman, working on the upkeep of the Château de Versailles for over 30 years.

With their love of art and good craftsmanship, the 3 men created "Les Jardins du Roi Soleil" to respond to the need of the Château de Versailles to reproduce the tubs created by "Le Nôtre" for Louis XIV.

They had to remake the moulds, which no longer existed, using the original plans along with any other existing pieces.

They had to replicate exactly the boxes made around 1820, which were a copy of those created by "Le Nôtre", but with cast iron mountings to make them more resistant.

The oak panels are made traditionally, with entirely natural drying. In traditional fashion, the year and the name of the manufacturer is engraved on the crosspieces.

Today, Les Jardins du Roi Soleil have made over 6000 boxes. However it is not the quantity but the quality that matters. This wood and cast iron box is the only one in the world to have lasted over 150 years, in some cases, still with the citrus fruit trees planted at the time.

Les Jardins du Roi Soleil patented the name and design of the boxes in order to protect them in most countries.

Les Jardins du Roi Soleil has a diverse clientèle, international landscape gardeners and architects as well as private clients with a love of beautiful decorations. As such, the boxes can be found not just in Europe but in America or Asia.
